This book contains a wealth of information that is not available in the Pentax K7 owners manual. The owners manual and this book together will help you master the K7. As an example the Magic Lantern Guide tells you that you need a class 6 SDHC card in order to be able to capture a number of high speed images. I could not locate this information anywhere but in the Magic Lantern guide. The book is definitely recommended.

This book is an outstanding adjunct to the official manual. It is significantly easier to access information about the features and operations of the camera through this book than the official manual.

I've used Magic Lantern guides for three DSLRs so far.
These guides should be required reading for anyone making the investment in a tool as powerful as our cameras.

After I opted to purchase the Pentax K-7 to be my first DSLR, I knew I needed more than the manual that comes with it as there are so many more features than I've had in any camera. I opted for this book after thorough research, including a review from a Photography professor on Amazon who gave it a huge thumbs up.
It's so helpful to see color images over black and white. The book is well-written and definitely works WITH the manual. Burian does an excellent job of working with obvious as well as more obscure, but mighty, features built into my camera. Through this book, photographers of all levels can improve their skill levels.

I am new to SLR photography and I purchased a K7 as my first DSLR. I received this book the day before I received my camera, even selected the free shipping. It was helpful to fight off my impatience while waiting for my camera to be delivered. I read the first few chapters that evening. Being a beginner, I can say that this guide is going to be extremely helpful in aiding me to become a better hobbyist. It explains how to use features in English and also what the feature will do for the picture. The owners manual is also good, but uses technical language that is somewhat foreign to a beginner. Worth the money!
