I'm not sure I am going to be able to say enough bad things about this book. I don't know who suggested to Ms. Span that she write a book but I hope it wasn't her own idea. Perhaps editing wasn't her strong suit when it came to her career in film and video making. This book was an easy read and only took about 30 minutes from cover-to-cover. It took even less than that to realize that it is a bunch of psycho-social rambling thrown together with cheesy photos that rarely, if ever, illuminated the point of discussion. As far as technical information about the ins and outs (pun intended) of creating video, it doesn't get much deeper (ouch) than advice amounting to the level of, "if you want to shoot someone having sex on a sofa, you should shoot in a room such as the living room where the sofa is usually located." And in what room should I go to if I want to video someone in the bath? If you want to learn the techniques for shooting quality video, I would suggest you buy any primer on lighting, video taping, editing, scriptwriting, etc. and avoid a waste of your money here. Even 'Digital Video for Dummies' is a much more sound primer for creating erotic home videos although you don't get the titillating title or pastel colored cover. I'm going to try to give this book NO stars but I am not sure that the system will allow it. If I am forced to give one star then, it is for her nerve in actually allowing someone to publish this with her name on it.
